Sarah McChesney settling into the swim of things with TRU Wolfpack

Sarah McChesney of the TRU Wolfpack
looks to make a splash in CIS swimming

It's a whole new level of competition and experiences for Prince Rupert's Sarah McChesney, however the former CHSS grad is establishing herself with the swim program at Kamloops Thompson Rivers University.

Miss McChesney has taken up the challenge of competitive swimming at the University level having joined the WolfPack this year, the debut season for the swim team in the competitive CIS athletic environment.

As the season training sessions were getting underway, she recently offered up some thoughts for the Kamloops This Week newspaper as to some of her reasons for selecting TRU and the WolfPack for her post high school years.

The lure of a first year program and the chance for some enhanced training proved to be one of the key attractions for her. As well, the first year university student has found the campus life of TRU something that has been easy to fit into.

She was also featured in a recent CFJC TV report on the TRU program, providing some insight into the changes that shifting to the University program has brought to her swim career.

Miss McChesney and her swim team spent this weekend in Calgary at  the Calgary Cascade Meet, with the Rupertite picking up a Bronze Medal in the Women's 200 Freestyle event recording a personal best time of 2:09:38, qualifying her for the finals in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events of the weekend.

Next up on the TRU Swim Team schedule is the CWUAA Championships in Lethbridge, Alberta  on November 21-23.
