The City of Prince Rupert has issued a reminder to residents that access to the Mount Hays area by Wantage road is restricted, with the road closed just west of the Oldfield Creek hatchery, the closure was first announced in September following extensive rains which brought a landslide down the mountain side and into the Creek ecosystem.
The incident at the time resulted in significant damage to both the Hatchery and the adjoining Prince Rupert Golf Course.
The update was posted today through the City of Prince Rupert Facebook page, though no update on the situation west of the hatchery was included in the notes from City Hall.
In October, the City's Operations Director Richard Pucci provided an update for Prince Rupert City Council as to the extent of the September storm damage on the community.
