30 athletes from the North Coast on hand as BC Summer Games gets Underway in Prince George


British Columbia's athletes, coaches, official and some of their families have all travelled to Prince George this week, the start of the 2022 BC Summer Games which kicked off with a Grand Opening on Thursday evening.

Thirty Prince Rupert athletes boarded the bus eastbound on Wednesday, joining 173 athletes from across the Northwest, along with 28 coaches set to take part in the showcase event for the summer. 

An event for some that one day could lead to more success on the national and international stage.

The Northwest Zone made their entry at the one hour six minute mark of the Grand Opening to the ceremonies. 

The Thirty Prince Rupert athletes are taking part in a wide range of activities over the next three days of competition included on the list:

Athletics, Boys Basketball, Golf, Boys Soccer, Swimming, Triathlon and Wresting

The Prince Rupert Port Authority is on board as an official sponsor of the BC Summer Games and in addition to that assistance, they're proving to be a helpful source of updates on events,

The competition kicks off today with the BC Summer Games wrapping up with the Closing Ceremonies on July 24th.
