Charles Hays Secondary is the focus for basketball this weekend as the AA Northwest Zones champion will be awarded following two days of tournament action |
With the success of another high energy All Native Basketball tournament now but a week a behind us, the month of what is basketball madness in Prince Rupert continues this weekend, as the young guns of High School Basketball show their stuff at the Charles Hays Gymnasium Friday and Saturday.
The Senior Boys Rainmakers are the host for the Northwest zones, as they, Mount Elizabeth and Smithers Secondary all seek a Zones banner and a berth in the Provincial Tournament taking place in Langley in March.
The Rainmakers enter this weekend still ranked as the Number three team for AA Basketball in British Columbia, having held that position in the BC rankings for much of the season. Looking to knock them off the provincial radar will be the focus for the Kitimat and Bulkley Valley squads.
The Zones play gets underway this afternoon with four games set to determine who gets to make the travel arrangements for Langley.
