The Coast Tsimshian are hosting a mid march career fair at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre in Prince Rupert |
An opportunity to connect with local employers and learn more about training programs available in the region will be the focus for the Third Annual Coast Tsimhian Career Fair which will take place from 1 to 5 PM on Thursday, March 14th in the Auditorium of the Jim Cicconne Civic Centre.
As a number of local industrial projects begin to ramp up their plans for development in the region, accessing a trained labour pool is key to ensuring that as many jobs go to local residents as possible and towards those themes, the career fair will outline what's available now and what training is required to access the jobs of the future.
Among those to be hosting stations at the career fair are the Joint Venture partners that both Lax Kw'alaams and Metlakatla have formed over the last number of years, as well as a range of education options where training programs are available.
Both the Lax Kw'alaams Band and Metlakatla First Nation have invited their membership to the event, with high school students also urged to attend the Career Fair included in the notes posted to the information portals for both communities.
All of those planning to attend are reminded to bring their resumes with them, in order to provide potential employers with some background on the would be applicants.
For residents of Lax Kw'alaams transportation has also been arranged to bring community residents to Prince Rupert for the Career Fair, the bus will depart the Reg Sampson Gymnasium at 12:20 returning from the Civic Centre at 4PM.
