No Tsunami worries for BC from latest strong quake off Oregon

Another quake off the Oregon coast today, the second
significant event of the week

The second significant earthquake of the week off the coast of Oregon was recorded shortly after 8 AM this morning, as a 5.8 quake struck 301 kilometres off the coast.

It follows a similar sized temblor recorded on the weekend in the same area of the seismically active area of the Pacific coast.

The All clear for British Columbia was issued shortly after the quake struck this morning, with Emergency Management BC noting that there was no threat to the BC coast from today's event.

It was not the only seismic shift of the last twenty four hours, just north of Prince Rupert a small quake registering 2.7 magnitude was recorded late last night near Sitka, Alaska some 342 kilometres northwest of the North Coast.

A small quake north of Prince Rupert was recorded at Sitka overnight

That seismic event did not generate any tsunami information alerts.
