More infrastructure woes for City with water main break along Fifth East

City Work crews are tackling another waterline issue in the city, with Fifth Avenue
Closed in both directions in the Lax Kxeen School area

Add one more work around to your commute from east to west as the City of Prince Rupert addresses some infrastructure issues on the city's east side.

City work crews have had to close Fifth  Avenue East around the Lax Kxeen School Area as they continue to work on a water main break along the roadway of the city's main east west corridor.

The work began a few days ago with traffic regulated by flag persons, however this morning the City announced the full closure of the street while the work continues.

Flag workers remain on location to send westbound motorists off in their proper directions with the detour in effect up the hill on to Fourth Avenue East and to wards Seventh Avenue East in the other direction. Those heading eastbound are redirected towards Sixth Avenue East, though in all instances motorists should be aware of the School Zone speed limits.

The City will update the water main repair progress at the end of the day, as well as what the plan for tomorrow may be, if more work is required.
