Wind Warning issued for Prince Rupert - North Coast - Haida Gwaii

You may soon see some of your neighbour's snow blowing into your driveway, all depending on whether the wind or the rain reach the North Coast first.

Environment Canada issued a WIND WARNING for the North Coast  and Haida Gwaii this morning with the winds anticipated to reach the North Coast by early Friday morning, at times reaching 90 km/h.

While they will diminish over Haida Gwaii overnight, they are expected to continue on through the morning for the Prince Rupert/North Coast area.

The weather system will bring rain tonight and tomorrow, before an Arctic front changes our weather dynamic for the next week with much colder temperatures, at times dipping as low as -15 overnight and featuring day time highs of - 7 to -9.

Updates on the forecast ahead can be found here.

The approaching wind and rain will also have an impact on Marine Weather conditions, with  STORM WARNING currently in place for Hecate Strait and all waters surrounding Haida Gwaii.

More notes related to weather events across the Northwest can be found from our archive page.
