McChesney to migrate east, as former Rainmaker joins the Illinois Sate Redbirds basketball program

Prince Rupert and area hoops fans will want to check their cable or satellite TV packages, as well as to look for some live stream options to see where they can follow the Illinois State Redbirds.

That as the NCAA team welcomes  former Charles Hays Rainmaker Liam McChesney to their program.

McChesney heads east after two years in the Utah State program, his first year that as a redshirt, his second shortened by injury, though both of those situations now work in his favour, allowing him four full years of eligibility with his new team.

The Normal, Illinois based squad made note of the addition of the six foot ten forward through their team website on Wednesday, with Redbirds Head Coach Dan Muller showing his enthusiasm for soon to arrive Rupertite.

"I'm so excited to add Liam to our program,. Liam is a very skilled forward that can play and can guard multiple positions. Liam came to college at a very young age and got hurt last year while playing on a high-level team. He has been well-coached for the last couple of years, and I believe he is going to have the ability to come in and help us right away."

The introduction for Redbirds fans also providing a bit of biography on McChesney's journey from the Charles Hays program as a top college recruit from Canada.

The Redbirds play out of the Missouri Valley Conference, which features a number of well known names in American college basketball such as Loyola, Indiana State and Missouri State just to name a few.

Illinois State is coming off of a disappointing season that saw them finish last in the conference, which will offer the Prince Rupert baller a chance to be part of a team looking to rebuild for a run not only at their conference title but a place in the annual March Madness.

The arrival of McChesney also was noted by the local paper in the basketball mad state, including some action from his days with the Rainmakers to serve as the introduction.

You can bookmark the Redbirds website from this link and follow them on Social media as well.
