Help is on the way for BC North Bus passengers stranded on Highway 16 between Prince Rupert and Terrace

The Ministry of Transportation and Highways is reporting
today that BC North Bus between Prince Rupert and Prince George
is currently stranded along Highway 16 east of Prince Rupert

Among the travellers stopped in their tracks today by highway conditions along the Skeena are passengers  on board the BC North Bus; with the Ministry of Transportation issuing an update on their status earlier this afternoon, advising that a second bus was being sent from the Terrace end of the Highway 16 corridor.

No other details were shared by the Ministry as to where exactly on the highway that the BC North Bus had been stopped,  or when they anticipate that the stranded passengers will be picked up by the second bus.

The travels of the BC North Bus, which originally was scheduled for a Sunday departure have been hampered by some challenging weather on the North Coast in the last 24 hours.

First with yesterday's day long parade of travel advisories, as well as the Overnight road closure on Saturday owing to a High Avalanche Risk. Shifting again today to further travel advisories, the road of such challenge that the Ministry as we noted earlier had closed it to traffic this morning.

That closure owing to Freezing Rain a situation which is having an impact along the Highway as well as in the Terrace area.
