On the North Coast your COVID triple tap comes with two options ... sometimes

The Provincial COVID vaccine program delivering third doses is moving into an accelerated pace these days, with invitations issued and accepted daily.

That as residents of the North Coast take advantage of the Northern Health clinic option or one which offers an opportunity for the third jab at pharmacies.

Once with a date, the next question for some is which vaccine will you get, with the Pfizer and Moderna versions the workhorses of the Northern Health vaccine program, though it does seem to depend on the volume of supply on the day you have your appointment as to whether you have a choice.

The Northern Health Facebook page for Prince Rupert provides a bit of guidance for those seeking out their third shot, as well as to serve as a Question and Answer forum for the program.

Both Moderna and Pfizer will be on offer at NH Clinics, however we are unable to say which vaccine will be offered on which day. You will be able to get whichever vaccine is offered on the day of your appointment.

So, if your appointment was on a day where Moderna was being offered that is what you would get. And yes, you are correct that mixing vaccines is permitted. The best vaccine to get is the one that is available to you.

The Northern Health Facebook page can be accessed here.

For those that aren't registered yet for the provincial vaccination program that is the first step of three towards the opportunity for vaccination, for those already registered, your invitation will arrive by way of the same process used for your shots previous.

Starting Jan 24 the focus for Prince Rupert vaccinations will shift to the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre on McBride. The full scope of the vaccine program for the next month can be reviewed below:
