Blog Watching: Week ending February 4, 2018


Word of another Prince Rupert business set to close its doors in the city generated the largest volume of interest on the week, with our notes on the news from Third Avenues Oceanside Sports far and away the most read story of our list of five from the week.

Readers also found much to review from our account of a container ship adrift off the Southwest coast of Haida Gwaii, with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre dispatching a number of assets to attend the Wednesday evening incident.

Monday's City Council meeting gained a bit of attention, with our review of the city's plans to seek out a grant from the Northern Development Initiative Trust for Aquatic Centre work of some interest.

The return of the Canucks Autism Network to the city on February 7th also attracted a strong audience review, as did our look at the nearly complete Van Arsdol Housing properties which are now being listed on a local realty site.

The top story of the week however, puts the focus on the latest news from the city's business sector and the closure announced for a local sporting goods store.

Canucks Autism Network makes plans for Prince Rupert return --  A program for those in the community that provide assistance for those supporting individuals with autism will be back in Prince Rupert in the week ahead, as the Canucks Autism Network hosts an evening information session on  February 7th from 6:30 to 8:30 at CHSS.   (posted January  31, 2018)

Combined listing prices of the Van Arsdol properties tops Two Million Dollars -- A housing development that has been under construction on the city's west side nears completion and is now being listed with a local real estate agency.  (posted  January 30, 2018 )
