Many of the workers of the Northwest perhaps were busy squeezing the last bit of summer out of the last long weekend for the season and may have missed out on the shout outs from around the region this Labour Day.

The Day of celebration for the work force, hailed by local politicians and from industry in many communities of the Northwest.

In Prince Rupert Mayor Lee Brain led off the local salutes with a Labour Day message on Monday.

Joining in with the City of Prince Rupert was the Prince Rupert Port Authority, the largest employer in the region with its own tribute to workers.

Further down the Highway, The City of Terrace also saluted their workers for their efforts on behalf of the community.

MLA's Ellis Ross and Jennifer Rice both saluted Labour through their Social Media streams on the day.

MP Taylor Bachrach also made note of the day, along with a visual reminder of the current labour dispute in Kitimat at Rio Tinto Alcan.
