Celebrating Paramedics the theme for today, International Paramedics Day

The Prince Rupert Ambulance
Station on Summit Avenue
They are among some of the busiest Emergency Responders in Prince Rupert and area.

And today, the paramedics of the Summit Avenue Station are being celebrated and honoured for their work, through the First ever International Paramedics Day.

From routine calls to dire emergencies, the response time is quick the attention professional as they provide the vital life link for residents to health care in Prince Rupert and if required to health services further away.

Of note from their workload  this year, has been the rise in Overdose calls that paramedics have been called to attend to, with the level of Overdoses doubling since 2016, with 71 overdoses situations requiring attendance of Prince Rupert area paramedics in 2021.

When not attending calls for medical assistance, Paramedics in the community have been among the leaders in some awareness creation, the most recent work towards better house numbering markings just one of a number of areas where they have taken a message to the region.

A glimpse into some of the work of BCEHS Paramedics can be reviewed through their website here.

You can follow the worldwide salute to those first on the scene from twitter through the day.

Some further notes on their work and there response to local calls for assistance can be followed through our Emergency Responders archive here.
