Prince Rupert Hospital lab services return to main floor

Prince Rupert and area residents arriving at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital for some lab work won't have to ride the elevator to the fourth floor anymore.

Northern Health announced on Wednesday, that the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital Lab Outpatient Service had relocated back to the main floor of the hospital, the relocation taking place in late June.

The lab services had been moved to temporary facilities on the fourth floor of the hospital after a May 2021 fire in the lab area left the location in need of significant repairs and updates.

The return to its more familiar location and with new equipment to use will be well received by those requiring the services of the lab, some of whom had taken their frustrations to social media over the last nine months or so.
