The recent decision of the Queen Charlotte Village Council to restore the ancestral Haida name of Daajing Giids for the community has resonated with the management of Northern Savings Credit Union.
Stephan Delloch the President and CEO of the Prince Rupert based Financial institution recently commented on the name restoration session of the council which he been attendance for.
As part of his notes for members, he also outlined the steps that Northern Savings will be taking to reflect the wishes of the community leaders and many of the residents.
The notes on the move by Northern Savings were released through the corporate website in June.
We outlined the scope of the discussion from the council session on Haida Gwaii in mid May.
The process has been turned over to the Provincial government for further action, though so far there has been no timeline delivered towards when the official name restoration plan will go into effect.
