McBride Street water main work to take 4 to 6 weeks to complete

Some extensive work is required on McBride street as the city replaces a fair amount of
it's water main in that area, requiring a number of road closures


The work that started on a leak discovered a few weeks ago, is expanding to a somewhat larger project for the City's public works department, with McBride street to remain a construction site for much of the start of the summer months, as city crews tackle issues related to the city's water main infrastructure on one of the city's busiest streets.

The City posted the update to the situation on Friday, making use of the new Social media App format to share word, as well as through the City Website.



In the media release from Friday, the City outlines the background to the major water main replacement and repaving project. The paving work to come following replacement of the water main that stretches close to two blocks. The work is expected to last through until near the end of July.



The notice also includes a map of the affected area and the road closures that will be in effect. With both seventh and sixth Avenues East closed to traffic, residents of Eighth Street East may see some increased traffic flow on their road during the course of the six week project.

As it has been for the last few weeks, traffic will be reduced to two lanes along the construction site for the remainder of the work on McBride.
