Seafest Parade will see new marshalling area for this year

With the countdown to the Seafest Parade down to just a few days, the organizing committee is sharing word with participants of a change in the marshalling area for the annual showcase event.

With McBride currently the subject of some extensive road work taking place, parade officials have shifted the preparation area for those taking part, with all Seafest parade entries asked to enter the Parade Marshalling area via Fifth Avenue East.

That will also mean that those travelling from the east side of the city will not have access to Fifth Avenue during the preparation time from 7 AM leading up to the 11 AM parade.

The Check in Point for floats and parade participants is near the Dance Academy on Fifth Avenue East and is only accessible from Fifth East.

Access to McBride will also be prohibited from 4th Avenue East during the same period of time.

Organizers do not want anyone to use McBride Street coming up the hill from Civic Centre owing to the ongoing work in the vicinity of Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

The organizing committee also reminds motorists in the city that a Highway 16 detour will be in place on Seafest morning, with traffic westbound redirected along Sixth Avenue West at the RCMP detachment.

East West travel will be diverted for a period of time Saturday morning
and afternoon with travellers to use Sixth Avenue West  to work their
way around the Seafest parade area
