Rupert Rampage among three teams to hit the road as CIHL season resumes

It's back on the bus for Prince Rupert's Rampage, as the CIHL team heads into the homestretch of the current season with a two game road trip with Hazelton and Vanderhoof the destinations.

The return to play for the CIHL come following the annual  pause over the Christmas and New Year's period.

The January road festival starts off on Saturday when the Rampage take on the Nechako North Stars in Vanderhoof, with Sunday making for a stop in Hazleton with a matchup with the Wolverines.

Saturday's game has a 7:30 start time at the Vanderhoof Municipal Ice Rink, with some early game notes from the CIHL are available here.

The Sunday visit to the Hazelton has a 1 PM puck drop at the Hazelton Arena, some CIHL notes on that contest are available here.

The Prince Rupert squad will be hoping that Hunter Johnson currently third in scoring and Judd Repole  just a few points below on the scoring leader table can shake off the near month long rust of the break and keep up their pace into the first week of February.

The Rampage return to play as part of a pack of four teams from second to fifth place trailing the runaway River Kings who so far are undefeated on the season and hold a nine point lead over Prince Rupert in second place.

Still looking to make some noise in the final month of play are the Williams Lake Stampeders and Kitimat Ice Demons who are not too far off the pace of the middle of the pack.

The two Rampage contests are among six games this weekend to get the league back onto the ice.

Terrace and Kitimat are both off on the Great Cariboo adventure this weekend with games in Williams Lake and Quesnel to make for a busy two days of back to back games.

Update: Word Friday indicates that the Terrace River King games have been postponed owing to a COVID-19 outbreak among some team members, the games are to be rescheduled

Rampage fans can find updates on their travels this weekend from the team's Facebook page.
