Liberal roast comments, could very well burn their election chances

It's the story of some sexist comments, that just may drag down
the BC Liberals weeks before election day...

Frat boys met Mean Girls in a recent BC Liberal roast that resembled the opening scene of the old Brady Bunch TV show, though one with a very nasty side. 

The event was a September 17th Zoom event  for a fellow and departing MLA Ralph Sultan and the fallout from BC Liberal MLA Jane Thornthwaite's boorish sexist comments directed towards NDP MLA Bowinn Ma have set off the spectre of a bit of a death rattle for the governmental ambitions for the BC Liberal campaign. 

And perhaps even for the Liberal's currently less than resonating with the people leader Andrew Wilkinson.

The bad time for a political sideshow exploded over the weekend with leaked video of the "roast" with the offending commentary from the Liberal MLA, made worse by the appearance of a screen full of Liberals laughing along and nodding in approval. 

Then to add fuel to the unattended blaze, was the inexplicable amount of time it took to cobble even what have been tepid apologies so far. 

In short, the Thanksgiving weekend was a mess for Wilkinson and his team who clearly chose the roles of political turkey's and if they were trying to reinforce the idea that they offer new leadership, they failed miserably.

An excerpt of the Liberal's roast was released by Mo Amir a Vancouver area blogger and the presentation is not putting forward the BC Liberals as anything like a government in waiting; but rather like a particularly nasty bunch of gossips and worse.

Already mired in an election campaign that just doesn't seem to be building much excitement for their brand, the controversy over Ms. Thornthwaite's comments has sidelined any of their past campaign themes and it would seem be set to overshadow both the official launch of the BC Liberal campaign today and Mr. Wilkinson's appearance at tonight's Election Leaders Debate.

With twelve days to election day and counting, there's little time left for Mr. Wilkinson to reverse some of the mis-steps and political damage that has been self-inflicted and if any more incidents of the what can only be described as the "stupids" pop up, the current Liberal roster could be quite reduced in the Legislature come the vote count of the 24th.
