Northern Health's popular Imagine grant program is now taking applications for their fall session of funding |
The fall intake for Northern Health's popular IMAGINE grant program was launched last week, as the health provider across Northern British Columbia looks to engage residents in the region as part of their program for funding community based initiatives.
Many Prince Rupert groups have taken part in the long running program in the past, offering up new and innovative ways that put the focus on the prevention of chronic disease, or to promote health priorities in the region.
Some of the areas where the funding can be put toward include:
Healthy Eating and Food Security
Physical Activity/Active Living
Injury Prevention
Tobacco-Free Communities
Positive Mental Health
Prevention of Substance Harms
Health Early Childhood Development
Health Aging
Among those who can participate in the program are community organizations, service agencies, Indigenous organizations, schools, municipalities, regional districts and other partners with projects that support Northern residents in their efforts to stay healthy.
Preference is given to those projects which encourage different community groups to work together, address something that is missing in the community, help those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable, develop skills and resources and have a plan that will live on in the community after the funding ends.
The deadline for applicants is November 30th.
Successful applicants from this falls program will hear back from Northern Health by December 18th, with the funding for projects to be released by January 18th of 2018.
Applicants can apply for funding of up to $5,000 for their project. Any funding provided for the successful projects must be put to use by June 30th of 2018.
The application guide can be reviewed here.
A number of Prince Rupert applications have found success in the past, with Northern Health offering up some of the successful projects through a mapping project, you can view the successful candidates across Northern BC here.
