Across the Nation, Canadians paused today to reflect on the events on a campus of a Montreal University on December 6th of 1989, a night thirty two years ago which saw the lives of 14 women taken in a mass murder on the campus of École Polytechnique de Montreal.
Lives which as the Province of British Columbia observed today were "Fourteen stolen lives - women who were killed out of hatred"
Premier Horgan addressed the day this earlier this morning setting the tone of the Provincial commemoration of events taking place in Montreal today.

Also speaking to the commemoration of today was Prime Minster Trudeau who shared the Federal Government's message of remembrance.
“On this solemn anniversary, I invite Canadians to honour the victims of the École Polytechnique massacre. Our thoughts are with their loved ones as well as the survivors of this senseless tragedy. Let us also reflect on what we can all do – through our words and actions – to end gender-based violence and foster a society where women, girls, and gender diverse people feel safe, are respected, and can reach their full potential.”
