The preparations have been taking place for months, with the start of the twelve hour event set for 10 AM as the teams of local residents take to the field in the shared fight against Cancer and to pay honour to those that have survived, as well as to remember those who have passed on.
The annual Relay makes for a shared experience for the hundreds that sign up each year, many of them returning to the field due to the strong support that they receive from their fellow participants and the community at large.
The Prince Rupert event is one of 415 similar Relays held across the country, which have seen more than 100,000 participants take part in the national movement for Cancer Awareness.
25 teams have been entered for the 2018 edition with team membership both large and small.
The Family friendly event also features music, food and games through the twelve hours of the Relay making the PRMS field a destination for many.
The most emotional and inspirational moment of the day will come with the Survivor Victory Lap which traditionally opens the event and salutes those that have conquered cancer or continue with their fight.

The Northern View has been profiling many of those taking part in this weekends event and their stories make for the testimony of how important the event is to many in the community.
The fundraising for the event has been going on for much of the Spring, with a range of community events having taken place to raise the awareness of the event and to spur on the participants as they head to the starting line on Saturday.
The latest updates show some of the success of those taking part both on a team or individual basis:
So far, local organizers are just over the half way point of their goal of raising 100,000 dollars for this years event.
You can explore the list of teams taking part in this years event and make a donation or join up, if space is still available from this review of those making ready for this Saturday's event.
One more chance to help out the cause comes up tomorrow with the annual Relay for Life Jail and Bail, where both some of the high profile residents of the community or those of a lower profile, may find themselves behind bars.
All allowed more than one phone call for help as they look to raise their bail and help support the Saturday Relay.
