Saturday the date for 2018 Salmon Festival

The celebration of the salmon is the focus for this Saturday at the Prince Rupert Civic Centre as the 2018 edition of the Salmon Festival with a wide list of events to carry the event through from 11 AM to 9 PM.

The Sixth annual festival is hosted by the Gitmaxmak’ay Nisga’a Society & Dancers and they have put together a list of performances from cultural dance groups for the Civic Centre Gymansium through the day.

The event also features a market to showcase local artisans, along with a tempting roster of food options available in the Auditorium.

A number of local businesses have donated goods or gift cards for the day for door prizes, with a 50/50 draw and Quilt Raffle also available for those in attendance to participate in.

Admission to the Family Friendly event is free, though donations to help reduce the cost of the event will be welcomed by Salmon Festival organizers.

This years event arrives as concerns continue to grow when it comes to the fate of the salmon stocks on the North Coast, making the 2018 event one for salmon awareness, as well as celebration for the community.

You can get updates on the plans for Saturday from the Facebook page created for the event.
