All is quiet at the CHSS soccer field today, that changes tomorrow as the Rainmakers play host to the Girls Zones Soccer Finals starting at 10 AM |
The Spring Soccer season wraps up for Girls high school soccer this weekend, three teams take to the pitch in the quest for the Northwest banner and a chance to move on to Provincials.
The Northwest Zones are set up as a round robin format, with points awarded for wins and ties, should teams be tied at the end of the round robin format, a series of tie breakers that would be used to determine a winner.
If the teams remain at a stalemate after that, some additional time with shorter halves will be in play.
A Penalty shoot out would be the last element in play should it be required.
The all day match ups start Saturday morning as follows:
At 10 AM Caledonia and CHSS break the ice with the first match of the three game showdown.
1 PM finds Caledonia back on the pitch to take on Smithers
While the Rainmakers return to the field at 4 PM when they take on Smithers.
All three teams have had a fairly competitive Spring season, with matches fairly close in score for the most part, the Gryphons bring a slight edge in the Goals For category into the tournament having netted eight goals in play day action through April and May.
Such was the nature of the tight contests through the Spring that the gap between the Smithers squad and Terrace and Prince Rupert is but two goal. A margin that sets the stage for what should be three entertaining matches of soccer (and maybe a bit more) at the Prince Rupert Boulevard field.
