Harbour Theatres' 2019 edition of Udder Fest to launch with reception

This August marks the 21st year that Prince Rupert's theatre community at Harbour Theatre will bring us the always entertaining offerings of Udder Fest, with shows set for the Tom Rooney Playhouse from August 14 to 17.

The Festival provides for a range of productions showcasing comedy, drama and improv, as well as the work of the Children's Summer camp program currently underway.

To launch this years UdderFest, the Lester Centre is teaming up with Harbour Theatre to host a cocktail reception on opening night, featuring the talents of Smithers born musical performer Scalawag, who will take to the Lester Centre stage with a 7:30 performance.

The UdderFest reception takes place one hour prior at 6:30, featuring a cash bar as well as the sale of non-alcoholic refreshments. During the reception passes for the four nights of UdderFest will be available for purchase, while performers for this years Festival will provide previews of their shows.

"We're very proud to collaborate with Harbour Theatre to share an evening of music by Scalawag. It highlights the fact that Udderfest has many facets: theatre may be centre stage, but it's really about innovative, daring performances that every year increase Northwest BC's reputation for fostering superb artists like Scalawag." -- Michael Gurney, General Manager of the Lester Centre of the Arts

You can learn more about what to expect from Scalawag's performance from the Facebook Page created for the Opening night reception or  from the Lester Centre website

UdderFest organizers have not released the details of the four nights of the festival just yet, though one performance that will make for the four nights of theatre, will be the Secret Sex Life of Superheroes which held auditions back in June.

The full playbill for UdderFest21 will be revealed shortly and you can get updates on the Festival planning and when passes will be available through the Harbour Theatre Facebook page.

Harbour Theatre also recently put out the call for volunteers for the festival hosting an orientation meeting earlier this month, you can contact them through their Facebook page if you wish to see if they still need some help for Festival week.
