Lester Centre's new season of performances to launch October 7th



Prince Rupert's home for culture and arts is putting the finishing touches on what promises to be an entertaining year of performances on the Lester Centre stage in the year ahead.

The fall kickoff for the Lester Centre's Main Stage Series is set for the first week of October heralds a busy schedule for 2019-2020 among the scheduled events outlined in the Lester Centre information release. 

The artistic update, one that was composed by Prince Rupert's walking, talking thesaurus Michael Gurney who serves as the Lester Centre General Manager are:

BC-based Motown and soul songstress Krystle Dos Santos who takes to the stage on October 7th. The corps of Ballet Kelowna returns to Prince Rupert on November 13 with the infectious energy of their contemporary dance program Mambo and Other Works.

On January 18, the four exceptional pop and classical singers of Vivace continue a globetrotting concert tour that began at the Winter 2010 Olympics.

The PEI-born Atlantic String Machine will appear on February 3, bringing the sounds of East Coast folk to the West Coast. Only a few days later, on February 6, the divas of Viva Trio burst onto stage with a program featuring operatic classics and pop showstoppers.

On February 26, the acclaimed Canada's Ballet Jörgen stages quintessential Canadiana in dance form as they present Anne of Green Gables: The Ballet. Keyboard virtuoso Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne coaxes intoxicating jazz out of the Lester Centre's grand piano on March 26.

On April 11, magician and mentalist Spidey will spin a web of intrigue with feats of prestidigitation and mind reading. 

Rick Scott and Nico Rhodes bring the season line up to a conclusion as they serve up a smorgasbord of roots, rhythm and groove on April 18.

The Lester Centre's General Manager highlighted diverse scope of the entertainment options ahead for Prince Rupert's theatre goers for this year and next.

"There are so many great performances to savour, we wanted to announce the season without delay. We're proud to be presenting a bracing blend of world-class artists. There's something familiar for regular concert-goers to relish, and something fresh for newcomers to discover."

Tickets for this years MainStage Series will go on sale on September 1st, with the tickets available at the Lester Centre box office, or Cooks Jewellers. Theatre goers can also purchase their tickets online at www.lestercentre.ca

In addition to the show case of out of town entertainers to come to the Lester Centre stage, the local theatre and musical community will be showcasing their skills as well in 2020.

The community musical production which is one of the highlights of the community Arts scene will be announced later this summer, with auditions set to be held in October, part of the production process that will bring the show to life at the Lester Centre on April 2, 3 and 4 of next year.
