The current membership of the Prince Rupert Golf Club had best be served notice, the youth are coming up fast and with a few lessons at Summer Golf Camps this year, there may be some competition on the links in the years to come.

The popular summer program was launched in the first week of July, the first of four camps for the summer, with next week marking the start date for Camp number two.

For $99.99 per camp (plus tax) youngsters from Ages 5 to 9 and 10 to 14 will gain a strong understanding of the fundamentals for good golf, spend a few hours on the course working on their game and have some fun along the way.

The 5 to 9 year old golfers take to the course from 9 to 11 AM, while those from 10 to 14 have afternoon sessions from 12 to 2.

In addition to the July 22 to 26th program, summer camps will also take place on August 12-16 and August 26 to 30.

You can contact Club pro Tyler Stene for more information about the program or to sign up for the upcoming camps at tystenegolf@gmail.com or drop into or call the Club house, the course is located at 523 9th West, the pro shop number is 250-624-2000

The summer camps make for a good foundation to help build the game for youth in the community, though as we have seen in recent months, the younger golfers in the community are doing fine.

Some strong results in recent high school play served to send notice around the Club house that there may soon be some changes to come on the local leader board!
