Northcoast Innovation Lab set to expand focus on community development and take on additional staff

2019 is the year that will see ecotrust Canada begin to pick up the pace on some of its local initiatives in the region, with the North Coast Innovation Lab set to serve as the incubator for many of the community developments that will be expanded on through the summer and fall.

As we noted last week on the blog, the local office located in the Capitol Mall on Third Avenue West is preparing to build on some of the foundation work that they put in place last year and at the start of 2019,  with work on Restorative Ocean Farming, Food Production and Distribution, creation of Social Enterprise Development and Downtown Revitalization all on the radar for further advancement this year.

Towards those goals, the Lab is seeking out a new member for the Skeena team based in Prince Rupert, with the position of Coordinator now available for applicants to consider.

The coordinator will work Manager Nathan Randall and the range of community partners that they have put together to coordinate community projects and internships, looking to bring energy, capacity and academic learnings to Prince Rupert.

In addition to the local partners, the lab will be working with national academic institutions to further their development goals for the local office and community.

The ideal candidate for them is someone with links to the Prince Rupert or Northwest region but all eligible applicants will be considered.

You can learn more about the position from this link, the deadline for applications is July 14th with the start date for the position set for mid August.

For a look at some of their most recent work in the community, you can review their Year One Developmental Evaluation Report here. while the latest update from the Prince Rupert office is available through this newsletter.
