Up, Up and Up! Gas prices give Prince Rupert motorists sticker shock today

It ain't no treat, and perhaps just a short term trick,
But the price of gas has spiked significantly today in Prince Rupert

Just one night beyond the scariest night of the year, Prince Rupert's motorists awoke today to perhaps the scariest display of the Halloween season, as the price of gas at the pump shot upwards once again, marking the second surge of pricing in less than two weeks.

Those filling a tank today, may perhaps be thinking of those halcyon days of mid October when the price for a litre of gas was listed at but $1.12 per litre.

That $1.12 price however point is one that has been left in the dust by two subsequent increases over the last two weeks, with $1.24 of but a few days ago, giving way to the uptick on the local signs with Chevron to this point hosting the highest price at 1.39.9 per litre as of  1PM

From the Highs

To the Lows ...
Prince Rupert has the most expensive gas
from here to Prince George

Here at the North Coast Review we gulped, let loose with a heavy sigh and put enough in the tank to take to the road for a tour of some of the other gas stations in the city which have delivered the following price at the pump values from the 1 o'clock hour.

Chevron -- $1.39.9
7-11 Esso ---  $1.34.9
Petro Can -- Hays Cove -- $1.34.9
Petro Can --  Kaien Road Industrial Site -- $133.9

Motorists across the city can help keep us in the loop on the latest numbers by taking to the GasBuddy website to report any changes.

That online portal is offering up a range of prices for points between Prince Rupert and Prince George and the findings will no doubt raise the internal temperature of North Coast residents, with Prince Rupert clocking in at the top of the list for mainland communities in the North found west of Prince George.

There is no report for prices on Haida Gwaii as of yet, should we hear of any we shall update the list.

The latest reports for the Average price of gas for communities along Highway 16 are below:

Terrace -- Range from $1.13.9 to $1.23.9
Kitimat -- Range from $1.21.9 to $1.27.9
Smithers -- Range from $1.19.9 to $1.33.9
Burns Lake -- $1.31.9
Vanderhoof -- $1.31.9
Prince George --  Range from $1.10.9 to $1.26.9

Update from Haida Gwaii:

From our Haida Gwaii Correspondent, the Thursday price point in Masset:

The surge of pricing leaves motorists with the prospect of a little casino gambling at the pumps, deciding whether to limit their purchases to see if the price goes down, or to go all in and fill up now with the thought that this may be the new low point for what may come in the future.
