Earthquakes Canada lists 4.0 seismic event on Haida Gwaii, USGS seemingly goes not so fast ...

An early morning wake up call for Haida Gwaii residents
with a 4.0 seismic event at just after 6A east of Port Clements

The Canadian office which tracks seismic events has recorded an earthquake off the north coast of Haida Gwaii this morning, listing a 4.0 magnitude event  at 6:02 AM on the Earthquakes Canada website. The location of the epicentre is noted as 32 km East of Port Clements

The Discussion from that social media advisory generating some conversation on the early morning wake up call.

The earthquakes BC notice advises that it would have been a lightly felt event and no damage is anticipated from it.

Emergency Info BC followed up on the Earthquakes Canada note with an advising that there was no Tsunami threat to BC


The global leader in Earthquake monitoring however, has yet to note the event, with nothing to this point added to the USGS reporting website.
