Emergency Preparation Alert System put to the test across British Columbia on Wednesday afternoon

For those who may have forgotten a wakeup call just before 2PM was issued by the Alert Ready program with mobile devices alerting residents of British Columbia to to day's test of the Emergency Alert system.

The loud oscillating beeping of mobile devices also delivered a message to advise that today's alert was only an exercise.

As we outlined on Tuesday, the test comes in the middle of Emergency Preparation Week in British Columbia and with a change in provincial policy that will now include floods and wildfires as part of the provincial protocol when it comes to issue an Emergency alert for British Columbians.

North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice, who is also the Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness has been relaying information on the test and other themes related to Emergency Preparedness week through the week on her social media stream.

Should there be an alert that is raised for a real emergency, this page on the Prepared BC website is your go to destination for more information.
