With Soccer's return to the Prince Rupert pitch, local players can again chase opportunity for success outside the region


The welcome return for soccer in Prince Rupert has just gotten underway and already local players looking to advance their game and participate at a high level have a chance to show their stuff.

The BC Summer games for 2022 are set for Prince George this July and the Regional Boy's Soccer team tryouts for the Northwest Zone region will be held in Terrace later this month

The tryouts are for those born in 2007/2008 and living in the region which starts in Vanderhoof and travels west to Haida Gwaii.

The Terrace tryouts are set for Sunday May 29th at the Sparks Street Field, two times have been set for the sessions, from 10:30 AM to Noon and from 1:30PM to 3PM.

William Spat a familiar name for Prince Rupert Soccer and long time supporter of the game on the North Coast is the Head Coach for Zone and he has more information on the tryout process here.

With a Canada Soccer National C License, Mr. Spat holds the highest level of coaching certification in the Prince Rupert Soccer Community

For the Girls Division, tryouts are scheduled for Smithers on May 15th, learn more about that opportunity for players born in 2007/2008 here.

The summer event is scheduled for July 21-24.

Charles Cook the PRYSA President notes of some of the trail blazers of the past who represented Prince Rupert in regional competition. 

With the Girls sending two representatives in 2002 and 2004, while the Boys sent four players to regional teams in 2014 and 2018.

The path for the next generation of Rupert players starts at the end of the month in Terrace.
