Blog Watching: Week ending May 8, 2022

The latest in a number of spectacular fires in the downtown core of Prince Rupert dominated much of the talk for this past week, with last Sunday's blaze which consumed Third Avenue West's Belmont Hotel attracting crowds downtown to watch the city's Fire Rescue/Department attending to another iconic location in the community.

The interest in that work found a large volume of readers checking out our coverage of the Sunday event and a follow up piece once the flames were out and all but rubble remained.

Such was the interest in those two stories that they far outpaced the rest of our list of five for the week.

For those items that readers also found interest in, our look at the return to service of the Northern Adventure after a one week service suspension found a strong readership,  as did our look at some good news from the Prince Rupert Port Authority for the 2022 cruise season with the scheduling of the Ruby Princess for fifteen Port calls this summer.

This week also saw the return of Prince Rupert stories to the TV7 news cycle, with the arrival of the latest reporter for the local bureau, rounding out our list of five was a look at how the BC Government plans to address the ongoing concerns from some municipalities when it comes to prolific offenders.

When it came to the top item of the week however, another chapter in the long list of downtown fires gained the largest readership for the week.
