Despite Wet Weather, Hike for Hospice finds success in raising awareness, with final donation amount still to come

Participants in last weekend's Hike for Hospice signed the
banner for the event with tributes and memories for those they were hiking for

The Weather Gods chose not to cooperate with the organizers for the first annual Hike for Hospice on Sunday, however rain did not deter a strong turnout for the event which counted up to 50 participants in attendance at the start point from Mariner's Park.

Those that took part in the hike had three routes to choose from, while others were there just to lend support to the local organization, with many putting their names to the Hike for Hospice banner in remembrance of the loved ones they were walking for on the day.

Joanne Ritchie, Coordinator for the Prince Rupert Hospice notes that Pledge Sheets are still being returned so they have yet to know a final figure from the fundraising portion of the day.

She observe however that "the generosity of the community so far has been truly overwhelming with Hospice so very, very grateful."

The Hike for Hospice was also assisted by a range of community minded groups and organizations who the organizers thanked for their help in raising awareness of the event and the work of the Hospice in Prince Rupert.

You can still donate to the fundraiser, either by way of an eTransfer: PrinceRupertHospice@gmail.com , or go onto the website portal to offer your help.
