Ten arrested in Prince Rupert Drug Bust on Lotbiniere Street

Prince Rupert RCMP have released the details related to a major drug bust in the 800 block of  Lotbiniere Street on Tuesday, May 1st.

The police operation combined a range of assets towards effecting ten arrests and taking a range of drugs off the streets in the early morning hours.

Involved in the police action were Members from the Prince Rupert Crime Reduction Unit, Plain Clothes Section, General Duty Service and the Terrace Police Dog Service.

At 5:30 AM on Tuesday, Members served execution of two warrants simultaneously, on two homes located between 8th and 9th Avenue West in the central neighbourhood, residences situated  not too far from Prince Rupert Middle School.

As part of the operation ten people were taken into custody, arrested for possession for the purpose of Trafficking. 

The estimated street value of the seized drugs was approximately 40,000 dollars.

The list of drugs and material seized as part of the operation included:

9 ounces of cocaine
24 grams of crack cocaine
9.62 ounces of marijuana
2.5 ounces of marijuana resin

As well the RCMP seized packaging materials, scales and approximately 7,000 dollars.


In a media release outlining the operation, Acting Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Dave Uppal noted as to the concerns that the RCMP had with the location of the two residences as close to a school as they were

  "This is a significant seizure removing a large amount of drugs off of our streets. These homes were in a close proximity to a school, which can pose a threat to our youth"

The RCMP advise that the investigation is ongoing and further information related to the today's operations and the work to follow will be provided when it is available.
