A bit of Prince Rupert took part in the annual 4th of July celebrations last week in Ketchikan with Prince Rupert Mayor Lee Brain once again making the trip North to Alaska's First City, hitching a ride with the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 64 crew.

While in Ketchikan Mr. Brain was scheduled to discuss a range of current topics with local officials from our neighbouring community to the north.

Among some of the current issues of note that could have come up for the region; the fate of the Alaska Marine Highway which is in the midst of a service overview hosted by the State government and facing potential budget constraints this fall.

During their stay in Alaska, Mr. Brain and the Station 64 crew also participated in a number of activities including Ketchikan's popular 4th of July parade on Thursday.

So far, there has been no update provided by the Mayor through his Social media page as to how those conversations went or what results may have been found from the visit to Southeast Alaska.
