CBC supporters in Prince Rupert looking to add an afternoon voice to their daily radio routine

A CBC radio program from Prince Rupert in the afternoon is the next
goal for a group of local CBC Radio supporters

If you're a CBC listener, you may currently wake up with Carolina de Ryk every weekday morning, but if a group of local public broadcaster supporters have their way, you'll be able to settle into your dinner hour with another Prince Rupert based voice.

That's the goal for Kathleen Palm and the collective of CBC Radio supporters in Prince Rupert, who have been seeking a much larger presence on the North Coast for the national broadcaster for years.

Towards that goal, the CBC Supporters have plans to hold an Open House at the Prince Rupert Library on Saturday September 14th, with members of the group to be in attendance from 2 to 4 to discuss all things CBC radio.

The key focus for the September get together is to let the CBC know that the North Coast listens to the broadcaster and to get things in motion towards the realization of an afternoon show for the Prince Rupert studios.

in June on a range of topics related to CBC Radio

Ms. Palm most recently shared some of the CBC Radio supporters zeal for the national broadcaster with City Council appearing at Prince Rupert City Council in June for a presentation on their work.

Her efforts were rewarded shortly after that appearance, with Prince Rupert City Council sending a letter of support towards the CBC Support group's efforts.

The latest goal for the group probably means that Catherine Tait, the President and CEO of CBC/Radio Canada can anticipate more correspondences from the North Coast sometime this fall.

That as the local group look to realize their dreams for local afternoon programming from Prince Rupert and expansion of the CBC presence on the North Coast.
