Northern Health opens application period for Imagine Grants for Fall 2019

The end of the month is the date to circle on the calendar for residents of the North Coast looking access up to 5,000 dollars available from Northern Health to be put towards community health initiatives.

With Funding available for groups or organizations in Prince Rupert, as well as along the North Coast and across the Haida Gwaii

The Imagine Grant Fall call for applications  will come to an end on September 30th  with funding available for the following: community organizations, service agencies, Indigenous organizations, schools, municipalities, regional districts, and other partners.

Those looking to apply for the IMAGINE grants should design their program application to reflect how it will prevent chronic disease and injury, or how it will promote health in one or more of the following areas of note:

Healthy eating and food security
Physical activity and active living
Injury prevention
Tobacco-free communities
Positive mental health
Prevention of substance harms
Healthy early childhood development
Healthy aging
Healthy School Action

Funding levels are available for up to 5,000 dollars per project, with preference given to those that encourage different community groups to work together, address gaps in services or programs that are available locally and which will help those who are disadvantaged or vulnerable.

Consideration will also be given to those programs which can help develop skills and resources.

This fall Northern Health has expanded the program to accept applications for Multi-Phase projects:

To be eligible, your project MUST have clearly defined phases, all working toward one larger goal. We will not fund operational costs for established programs (day-to-day supply costs, food, space rentals, etc.), and we will not fund the same work for any project multiple times.

Please note, you must re-apply for each phase of the project: Being approved for one phase DOES NOT guarantee that all phases will be approved, as each application will be reviewed separately.

To be eligible, your project must:

Have between 2 and 4 clear phases, each with unique goals and activities

Take no more that 4 calendar years to complete all phases

Meet all other IMAGINE criteria, as stated above

Deliver more value to your community than could be achieved in one phase

Not represent operating costs for established programs or ongoing projects

You can explore all the elements of the program and access the application forms for the Imagine Grant program here.
