The Wheelhouse Hits the Road and another appearance at the Great Canadian Beer Festival

The special brews of the North Coast may not be much of a secret elixir for much longer, as Prince Rupert's Wheelhouse Brewing Company makes its annual trek to Victoria and the wildly popular Great Canadian Beer Festival.

The Prince Rupert craft brewers will join some ninety other like minded craftsmen and women in showcasing their work to an appreciative audience of thirsty Victorians and their guests at Royal Athletic Park.

And the competition for those taste buds will be tough, with brewers from as far away as Nova Scotia setting up their spots for the 27th annual event, hosted by the Victoria Beer Society.

Prince Rupert is representing at the Great Canadian Beer Festival
with the Wheelhouse Brewing Company part of this years event

For the Wheelhouse Three of the temptations that are on the beer list include: The Scurvy Dog Spruce Ale, Vitamin Sea and All Inclusive.

The Wheelhouse group will be pleased to learn that their travel efforts are greatly appreciated, receiving a shout out from Joe Wiebe, one of the organizers of the  Great Canadian Beer Festival who made note of the Prince Rupert brewers as part of an  article in the Camosun College newspaper the Nexus.

Something which in itself should be good from some new customers ... and potential Beer disciples for the future!

“There’s a brewery from Prince Rupert, Wheelhouse Brewing, that comes down every year for beer fest and drives something like 22 hours to get here, but there’s no logic to it, because they don’t sell any beer outside Prince Rupert. Maybe a little bit in Terrace or something. They don’t sell beer down here, they do it because they just want to celebrate with the brewing community every year, so I’m super excited to see them again. I think that’s a really cool thing about the event—there’s several breweries like that, that have travelled from way up north or way across the province.”

Should you be in the Victoria area today or tomorrow, the Wheelhouse can be found at spot number one from the helpful Great Canadian Beer Festival Map.

Also loading up the Beer Wagons and charting a course south is the Smithers Brewing company, offering up three of their Bulkey Valley creations.

The Smithers list includes: The Nitro Coffee Lager, Pie Hard Strawberry Rhubard Blond and Mango Passionfrut Milkshake IPA the trio sure to be an eye opener for the Vancouver Island event.

You can follow the Wheelhouse travels in Victoria through their Social media options of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram which may see a few updates over the weekend.
